Welcome to BLAS
BLAS is a not-for-profit organisation which has the objective to promote Belgian – Luxembourg and Singaporean exchanges. Each year tens of volunteers organise more than 50 social and recreational activities to suit everyone’s taste.
Maybe you have just arrived in Singapore and are keen to get some insights into this country that will eventually become your ‘new home’? Or perhaps you have been here for many years already but want to (re)connect with some country fellows? Would you rather like to immerse your family into cultural activities: ranging from the traditional Belgian Saint Nicholas to the many intriguing local festivals? Or are you the sporty type looking for a tennis partner or a soccer team?…
Whatever your reason for joining BLAS might be, one thing is for sure: we promise to give you plenty of opportunity to meet new people, build friendships and turn your stay in Singapore into a memorable one.

HISTORY of BLAS
Since the late 70′s, Belgian businessmen regularly met under the chairmanship of Mr. Guy Robbe, the SABENA regional general manager. Big social gatherings were frequently organized at his house, where a lot of Belgians got to know each other.
In 1984, a small group of Belgians took the initiative to start officially a Belgian club. Different work groups such as Economy & Business, Social & Recreational, Cultural, Scientific & Academic were formed to be presented to the Belgian Community.
The official installation of the Belgian and Luxembourg Association of Singapore, as we know it still today, took place on the 4th July 1985. The notification was published in the Singapore Government Gazette of the 2.07.1985 (Notification number 2373).
Since then regular activities are organized for adults as well as for children.
Fun fact: BLAS members who returned to their homeland have formed the “Singapore Old Timers”, an initiative of former BLAS president Georges Castermans. They meet yearly, alternatively in Belgium and Luxembourg.
SOCIAL & FUN
Featuring our most fun and popular events such as the monthly Get Together and Lunch Bunch, the yearly Welcome Party, Quiz, Dinner Tournant, etc. We also regularly organise fun activities for our littlest members, of which the Saint-Nicholas visit and the Easter Egg Hunt are the most popular!
BLAS organises regular sports activities like tennis and soccer, but also more unique one-off activities, based on interest of members.
CULTURE, COOKING & COURSES
Singapore, being one of the meltiest melting pots of the world, is the ideal place to submerge in many different religions, cultures, cuisines and so much more. Let’s discover it together!
